Top 10 Jerseys by Winning Percentage
Happy New Year Kings fans! As we look forward to 2026 and the 2nd half of the season, let’s look back at the jerseys that the franchise has had the most success in, one of which is part of the current jersey set.
The Los Angeles Kings have worn many jerseys over their 58 seasons. They have not always done very well in these jerseys…but 10 of these designs stand above the rest. Each of them has a greater than 0.500 winning percentage in the regular season as of December 31, 2025. Just because the Kings have won a lot in these jerseys, it does not always mean that a better design equals more wins or that a design is more intimidating. Sometimes, it’s just the right combination of players that make a jersey memorable through our memories of great goals and wins.
I am limiting jerseys to a minimum of 2 appearances as one-offs can skew the results too heavily, especially since most of these one-off jerseys are throwback looks anyways.
10. 1988-92 White Home Jersey

In August 1988, the Kings introduced their first white jersey in team history. It was modeled by an unknown new-comer.

The first design had silver numbers that were replaced with black numbers for the 1992-93 season. Although there were minor changes to the names and numbers prior to 1992, I have grouped all the “silver number” versions together. It was the first jersey to finish its run with a 0.500+ winning percentage.

9. 2010-14 Forum Blue Throwback Jersey

When the Vancouver Canucks decided to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of their 1st game, they asked the Kings to follow suit in throwing back to the uniforms worn on October 9, 1970. The Kings continued to wear their original home jersey design for specially designated Legends Night games over the next 4 seasons. The likes of Rogie Vachon, Bob Berry, and Charlie Simmer were honored in these games, and more often than not, the Kings gave them a good show.

8. 2018-21 Gray Alternate Jersey

LA had an opportunity to introduce a 3rd jersey for the 2018-19 season. The team decided to bring back their 50th Anniversary look from two seasons prior with the gold accents swapped out for more brand appropriate silver accents. It was the 1st Kings jersey to employ the updated crest that would become the team’s primary mark at the start of the 2019-20 season. Unlike the previous 2 gray designs, this one was even worn on the road for 2 games – both wins.
Record: 16-10-1
WPCT: 0.593
Highest Scorers: Anze Kopitar (12 G, 14 A = 26 Pts), Dustin Brown (8 G, 13 A = 21 Pts)
Top Goalie: Jonathan Quick (11-6-1, 0.912 SV%, 2.48 GAA, 1 SO)
7. 2008-17 Black Alternate / Home Jersey

In November 2008, the Kings surprise dropped their new 3rd jersey – a callback to the silver and black era of the team. Despite losing the first game in a shootout, LA finished with a winning record in the design and they did it again the next 2 seasons. With all the winning happening in the banner / home plate logo, it became the team’s primary home jersey for the 2011-12 season. No one could have anticipated in October 2011 that this would be the jersey worn when the team lifted the Stanley Cup for the 1st time in franchise history the following June, and then again 2 seasons later.
On its own, the first 3 seasons as an alternate would rank 10th all time in winning percentage (0.579).
Note: I consider the Adidas version of this design (2017-24) separate from the Reebok version (2008-17).

Top Goalie: Jonathan Quick (109-49-16, 0.919 SV%, 2.06 GAA, 17 SO)
6. 2022-23 White Reverse Retro Jersey

The best looking Kings jersey of all time in my opinion ranks sixth on this list allowing me to sing the praises of its design once again. The perfect jersey also started off perfect with LA knocking off Detroit and San Jose at home. Although it was only worn for 5 games, its winning percentage would equate to approximately 25 wins if it was worn for half a season – basically if it was a permanent home or road jersey. Why not bring back a colorful scheme if the team wins 60% of those games?

Highest Scorers: Philip Danault (2 G, 4 A = 6 Pts), Kevin Fiala (4 G, 1 A = 5 Pts)
Top Goalie: Pheonix Copley (2-0-0, 0.933 SV%, 1.44 GAA)
5. 2014-17 Gold Throwback Jersey

After 4 seasons wearing their original forum blue jersey, the Kings switched up their Legends Night attire by wearing the team’s original gold jersey. Unfortunately, unlike the games in the 1960s, it was only worn against teams’ road white jerseys. It was only worn from February 2015 to October 2016. By far their best showing was the jersey’s lone road appearance celebrating the 50th anniversary of the awarding of the franchise in 1966. LA demolished a good Bruins team 9-2 in their own barn.
Record: 5-2-1
WPCT: 0.625
Highest Scorers: Drew Doughty (3 G, 5 A = 8 Pts), Tyler Toffoli (4 G, 3 A = 7 Pts)
Top Goalie: Jonathan Quick (5-1-1, 0.933 SV%, 1.57 GAA, 1 SO)
4. 2024-Pres Black Home Jersey

In their first season wearing the modern interpretation of the Gretzky Era black jersey, the Kings set a franchise record with 31 wins at home. Although they have not come close to replicating this success through the first half of the 2025-26 season, last season’s record alone is enough to propel this jersey to the 4th highest winning percentage, and the highest of any other traditional home or road jersey. Time will tell how LA continues to perform when wearing this jersey into the foreseeable future.
Record: 33-12-6
WPCT: 0.647
Highest Scorers: Adrian Kempe (19 G, 25 A = 44 Pts), Kevin Fiala (20 G, 15 A = 35 Pts)
Top Goalie: Darcy Kuemper (22-5-4, 0.934 SV%, 1.67 GAA, 5 SO)
3. 2016-17 Gray 50th Anniversary Alternate Jersey

The Kings celebrated their 50th Anniversary by introducing a gold accented alternate jersey. The jersey featured a gray base only seen previously on their 2014 Stadium Series jersey. It made for many visually bland jersey match ups as it always ended up being gray vs white. It’s hard to argue with results though as the team won the first 8 games while wearing this jersey. Jonathan Quick did not even play in any of those games as he was injured in the 1st game of the season. Instead, Peter Budaj stepped up and won all of those games. Quick did return to win 3 of his 4 starts in this jersey. The only other goalie to wear it was *checks notes* Ben Bishop…

Record: 11-3-0
WPCT: 0.786
Highest Scorers: Jeff Carter (9 G, 9 A = 18 Pts), Anze Kopitar (2 G, 11 A = 13 Pts)
Top Goalie: Peter Budaj (8-1-0, 0.918 SV%, 1.86 GAA, 1 SO)
T-1. 2020 Black & White Split Stadium Series Jersey

The Kings wore the unique split design jersey with LA italicized across the front topped with a chrome helmet for 2 games. In my opinion, it’s the worst jersey in team history. The first game was played at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for the 2020 Stadium Series against the Avalanche. LA won the game behind Tyler Toffoli’s hat trick, the first one scored in an outdoor game. Of course, those ended up being the last goals he scored with the Kings as he was traded days later. The jersey (and Chrome Dome) made another appearance this time at home against the New Jersey Devils. Adrian Kempe scored his first career overtime goal as the Kings remained perfect in this look.
Record: 2-0-0
WPCT: 1.000
Highest Scorers: Tyler Toffoli (3 G, 0 A = 3 Pts), Alex Iafallo / Anze Kopitar (0 G, 3 A = 3Pts)
Top Goalie: Jonathan Quick (2-0-0, 0.970 SV%, 0.98 GAA)
T-1. 2015 White Stadium Series Jersey

The 2nd worst uniform in Kings history, though not because of the jersey itself, ranks first with a 100% win rate. It’s impossible to talk about the jersey without also mentioning the white breezers that the team trotted out with it; a look that should never be repeated. LA took on the San Jose Sharks at Levi’s Stadium on February 21, 2015. It was their 2nd Stadium Series appearance in as many years. This time, they not only scored, but came away with a 2-1 win. The Kings closed out a disappointing season by wearing it at home in game 82 also against the Sharks. This time it was a much more decisive 4-1 victory.
Record: 2-0-0
WPCT: 1.000
Highest Scorers: Marian Gaborik (2 G, 0 A = 2 Pts), Andy Andreoff / Tyler Toffoli (1 G, 1 A = 2 Pts)
Top Goalie: Jonathan Quick (2-0-0, 0.962 SV%, 1.00 GAA)
As mentioned at the top, it’s not always the best jerseys that are the winningest. In some cases, it’s the ugliest, or strangest ones that take a cake.
