TRAINING CAMP – DAY TWELVE (9/29)

Here’s where to find all your updates for day twelve of LA Kings Training Camp.

The Kings are 3-1 so far in preseason play having defeated the Ducks twice, once in Ontario, once in Anaheim and having lost to them in Bakersfield. The team returns to El Segundo for training camp before their next game Tuesday night in Boise against the Utah Mammoth.

I have a medical appointment later today so I won’t have the same updates from camp as usual but here’s the groups list from Camp today.

Immediately the detail that stands out is that Andre Lee and Joe Hicketts have been moved to Group B while Akil Thomas, Samuel Helenius, Jeff Malott, Jacob Moverare and Kyle Burroughs remain in Group A.

This leaves Group A with 14 fowards, 8 defensemen and 2 goaltenders for a total of 24 players. Once the regular season begins on October 7th, the main Kings roster will need to be reduced to a maximum of 23 players. That means at lease one of the players listed above is likely to be waived and, assuming they clear waivers, assigned to the Ontario Reign. There is still a week left before those changes need to happen and three preseason games remain on the schedule so Andre Lee could still find himself returned to Group A as well as any other player from Group B and it remains to be seen which players will appear in the remaining preseason games.

Yesterday, Sept. 28th, the Kings had a day off from on-ice activity but the Kings released three players from NHL ATO/PTO agreements and they will appear at the Ontario Reign training camp when it opens later this week. Those players are forwards Jacob Doty, Jack Hughes and Kenta Isogai. All three have AHL contracts with the Ontario Reign.
