3 QUESTIONS FOR PRESEASON GAME vs GOLDEN KNIGHTS (Sep 23rd)

Tonight is the second preseason game for the LA Kings on the 2025-26 Preseason schedule. They take on the Golden Knights in Las Vegas at 7:00PM.

The Game roster is listed here.

With the knowledge of who will be available to play in Las Vegas tonight it leaves me asking three questions.

QUESTION ONE: Who will play minutes in goal?

At the time of this writing we have not yet spoken to anyone from the team so we don’t know who will be in net or who might start.

Anton Forsberg signed as a Free Agent on July 1st, Pheonix Copley returns for his 4th season with the organization and Isaiah Saville signed an AHL contract on July 16th with the Ontario Reign.

A reasonable case could be made for any of the three to play significant minutes in this game.

HOWEVER, Saville is also in Group C and was not on the ice for the Game Group skate indicating that he will play to role of EBUG for tonight’s game.

UPDATE: The morning skate is underway and as of 9:53AM only Forsberg and Copley are on the ice. Forsberg started the practice taking shots in goal.

QUESTION TWO: Will we see the same forward lines in the game that we’ve seen in Training Camp through the first three days?

If the lines stay consistent from camp then we can expect to see Moore, Danault and Foegele skate together as a line but as we saw in the Empire Classic on Saturday early camp trends did not continue into the game. Turcotte and Malott are also on the roster but it remains to be seen if they will be on the same line in this preseason game.

It will be interesting to see if Alex Turcotte is again given significant minutes on the Penalty Kill after his comments following the Empire Classic.

UPDATE: So far at the morning skate the lines appear to be

Moore-Danault-Foegele

Greentree-Turcotte-Malott

Lee-Helenius-Ward

Pinelli-Wright-Guttman

QUESTION THREE: What will the Defensive pairs be?

The Kings have selected seven defenseman to be available for tonight’s game.

Moverare and Burroughs skated as a pair for the first three days of camp but did not skate as a tandem in the Empire Classic. Brzustewicz was paired with Woolley on Saturday but won’t be paired with him in Las Vegas as Woolley is not on the game roster for tonight. Dumoulin and Ceci are both on the roster and there was offseason speculation that they might be a pair during the regular season and given their veteran status and experience it wouldn’t be shocking to see them paired tonight but given what we’ve seen so far in the preseason it also wouldn’t shock me to see them paired with younger partners to have stability and leadership spread around the roster.

It’s either heads or tails on a coin flip. Stellar analysis I know.

UPDATE: So far at the morning skate the pairs appear to be…

Dumoulin-Ceci

Moverare-Brzustewicz

Kirsanoz-Burroughs

As always… that’s why they play the games.
