For LA Kings fans, the idea of their team defeating a non-playoff team that was starting an AHL goalie seemed impossible.
But last night’s version of the Kings didn’t look anything like the team that struggled mightily on the road earlier in the season.
The Kings dominated the Colorado Avalanche in all facets of the game and jumped out to 3-1 lead in the first period, outshooting the Avs 12-5 in the process.
Poor Calvin Pickard never had a chance.
After the third goal, the Avs mercifully pulled Pickard and his .625 save percentage in favor of back-up netminder Reto Berra.
@Avalanche not his fault the defense don't know what the fuck they are doing out there…

Clearly, the Avs effort did not please their fans.
The goalie change, however, would not change their fortunes. The Kings extended their lead to three goals in the second period and extinguished any comeback hopes in third when Jake Muzzin scored to put the game out of reach.
First time at an @Avalanche game. Wait in line for a beer. 3rd period starts as im ordering and the dude says no. Fuck you @Avalanche

Just not a good night for Avs fans at all.
It was yet another big win for the Kings, as the team desperately needs points down the stretch to leapfrog their way into the playoffs.
But wait, how many points did the Kings earn?

Appreciate the effort, fellas.
While the Kings were taking care of business against the Avs, they were also treated to a wonderful gift at the end of the Blues-Jets game.
See, the Kings needed the Jets to lose to improve their chances of making the playoffs. And the Jets had just mounted an impressive rally to the tie game after being down 4-1. That’s when Barrett Jackman stepped up big…
No. Effin. Way.
That’s right, Barrett Jackman, you just scored the game-winning goal from center ice.
Brad Stuart should be lucky that Kyle Clifford only grabbed his stick and not his soul.
