The Western Conference playoff picture is pretty hard to follow right now.
During the course of last night’s games, the LA Kings dropped out of the second Wild Card spot when the Winnipeg Jets laid waste to the smoldering wreck that is the San Jose Sharks. So the Kings night was essentially ruined … wait, hold on. No, I’m, being told that the Kings actually manged to move up in the standings somehow.
Calgary loss moved Kings into third in the Pacific. Tied with Flames in points but Kings have played fewer games. Craziness every day.

Thanks, St. Louis Blues!
So now the Kings hold their own destiny in their hands. A win against the Anaheim Ducks tonight would create some distance between themselves and the Calgary Flames.
Hang on a second. Move ahead of the Flames? The Jets are somehow involved?
This must be some sort of mistake because there’s no way in hell that the Kings are fighting for a playoff spot with these teams and not the Shar…
…oh man the Sharks are just the gift that keeps on giving.
Last night’s Sharks-Jets game went about as perfectly as possible for anyone who enjoys seeing San Jose fall apart. The Jets jumped ahead with three first period goals and never looked back. When the game was all but decided, the ever-clever fans at the MTS Centre had some fun with the melodrama surrounding the Sharks.
Music to LA Kings fans ears.
So how bad are things for the Sharks now? Let’s take a look at the probability of them making the playoffs.
Is a 6.76 percent chance of making the playoffs bad?
The Kings, meanwhile, have a 71.3 percent chance of making the playoffs.
Oh yeah, the Kings play the Anaheim Ducks so it will be #GibbyTime tonight.
Looking forward to Trevor Lewis scoring tonight RT @icemancometh John Gibson off the ice first. Your Ducks starter tonight against the Kings
