The LA Kings have 18 games left in their 2014-15 season and they will not make the playoffs without significant help from the rest of the league. Knowing which team to root for in any given matchup can be complicated so we’ve put together this handy guide for you.
RULE 1 – Always root for an Eastern Conference Team over a Western Conference Team.
RULE 2 – Almost always root for a Central Division Team over a Pacific Division Team.
RULE 3 – Always root for the higher ranked team when two Central Division Teams are playing each other.
For today’s edition, we’ve enlisted the help of #TeamTRH favorite: Taylor Swift.
While Taylor is a huge fan of the site, she said she’d only agree to help if her beloved cat Meredith could also be part of the post.
We enthusiastically agreed. But since all of the majority of a small minority of I’m the only TeamTRH member who actually like cats, I decided to head up the project solo.
Thanks for helping us out, Taylor!
Do you have any words you’d like to share about Meredith before we get started?
…moving on then.
The Minnesota Wild have been seemingly unstoppable since acquiring former Edmonton Oilers (!) and Arizona Coyotes (!) goaltender Devan Dubnyk.
Can the Carolina Hurricanes shock the red hot Wild at home?
Alright!
Root: HURRICANES
The Calgary Flames have become the bane of the LA Kings existence.
Hopefully, without Mark Giordano in the lineup, their tumble down the standings can begin during the latter stages of their extended roadtrip.
Root: RED WINGS
Does anyone think the Dallas Stars have a chance of making the playoffs?
Root: LIGHTNING
Wow are the Colorado Avalanche seriously still considered to be in the playoff hunt?
Root: BLUE JACKETS
Neither the Winnipeg Jets nor the Nashville Predators have been playing particularly well lately.
This would be the perfect time for the Preds to get a win against the injury-depleted Jets and put a little distance between themselves and the St Louis Blues.
Root: PREDATORS
Ugh. Two teams that Kings need to lose and one of them has to win.
Root: NO OVERTIME
At this point, the Avalanche will hopefully be far behind the Kings and will undoubtedly exact a little revenge for last year’s playoff loss to the Wild.
In which case we may as well already assume the Avs won this game!
Root: AVALANCHE
The Ottawa Senators marched through California and defeated the Ducks, Kings and Sharks.
Now they find themselves on the verge of earning a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. So let’s hope they can extinguish the Flames and keep climbing up in the standings in the East.
