TRH RECAP 54: Golden Performance

KINGS 5, FLAMES 3

Coming off back-to-back wins on the road, the LA Kings returned to Staples Center to face a Calgary Flames team that they seemingly can never defeat.

But the Kings had an ace up their sleeve heading into this matchup:

Gold jerseys and Barry Effin Melrose.

And boy did those gold throwback jerseys look great!

See! People love them!

Anyway, the Kings looked good on the ice!

Then they didn’t…

Jon Quick Gold Goal Smash

…and Jonathan Quick didn’t like it one bit.

But as the game progressed, so did the lethal scoring prowess of That 70s Line Part Deux.

The trio of Jeff Carter, Tyler Toffoli and Dwight King (with a cameo appearance from Jordan Nolan) looked dangerous every single time they stepped on the ice. Eventually, the Flames were unable to stymie the line and all hell broke loose.

For some reason, Flames fans didn’t seem like the way the game had developed.

Jonas Hiller was pulled after allowing his fifth goal of the night and each one of the Kings’ goals was scored by a player whose number was in the 70’s because of course it was. And somehow Carter wasn’t one of them.

Now the Kings have won three straight and they suddenly look like a team that could make some noise in the playoffs. If, you know, they actually make it into the playoffs…

TRH THREE STARS OF THE NIGHT

3. Dwight King

Dwight King Gold Goal Face Freeze

Dwight King Face is something only a Kings fan could love.

2. Jeff Carter

1. Tyler Toffoli

Toffoli’s first career hat trick left people pretty excited…

The Kings playoff hopes may be resting on the shoulders of a 22-year-old who just had mono.
Get excited!
