The LA Kings started off their five-game road trip with yet another disappointing loss.
But that hardly seemed to matter to the team as they continued their now biennial tradition of attending the White House during yesterday’s off day. President Barack Obama welcomed the two-time defending full season Stanley Cup Champions and made some references that made players and fans alike smile and reminisce of the magical run to the Final.
Obama calling Los Angeles a Hockey Town forever.
It was great to hear the President name-drop some of the Kings top players, but mentioning Jeff Carter’s “hockey smile” made all of #TeamTRH blush.
Thanks to the fellas @billebeino for my new gear. The new hats gonna look great on the beaches of SoCal! pic.twitter.com/4T6sr3oslP

*swoon*
Now I know this may come as a shock to Washington Capitals fans, but it turns out that President Obama does care about hockey! …he just doesn’t care about the Capitals. I guess he likes keeping up with teams that actually, you know, win and stuff.
Anyway, the Kings really need to win a game on the road. Their season-long cold streak (5-10-6 on the road) is the biggest reason they are chasing the likes of the Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets for a playoff spot. Frankly, I’m just surprised they didn’t leave the White House with a loss.
So in the midst of a tough road trip, I’m sure the players are only thinking about tonight’s game against the Capitals!
…that, or busting Commissioner Gary Bettman’s balls.

And hoo boy, did members of the LA Kings love this!
Drew Doughty, of course, wanted to take it one step further.

Doughty, Gaborik and Jonathan Quick are not fans of escrow.
And Jarret Stoll manually retweeted himself into the conversation like he always does…

Man, I love this team.
But I’d love them even more if they could actually win a few games on the road.
