LA Kings Player Power Rankings – Week 19

PowerRankings-02

It’s Monday, so you know what that means. Time for the Kings to lose to the Flames? No, that’s been rescheduled for Thursday this week. The actual answer is Power Rankings time!

RANK PLAYER COMMENT
Drew Doughty – Drew finally scored another goal! Time to start dusting off that Norris candidacy again. (Last week: 1)
Anze Kopitar – Don’t be alarmed but Anze registered two shots on goal… IN THE SAME GAME!!! (Last week: 2)
Marian Gaborik – With the way the Kings offense had been playing, it is a miracle the Cookie Monster hasn’t starved to death. (Last week: 4)
Jeff Carter – With a four-game pointless streak, it seems like the loss of Richards is finally setting in for ol’ Jeffy. (Last week: 3)
Justin WilliamsMr. Game (February) 7. (Last week: 7)
Jonathan Quick – What with the Kings desperately trying to earn a playoff spot, it sure would be nice if Quick would flip into “playoff mode” soon. (Last week: 6)
Tyler Toffoli – Toffoli set a new career-high for points in a season, which would be more impressive if he wasn’t prepubescent. (Last week: 8)
Jake Muzzin – Muzzin, Lord of Corsi is dead. Jake, Lord of the Stupid Turnover has returned from the grave. (Last week: 5)
Dustin Brown – Dustin Brown playing well two road games in a row? KEEP HOPE ALIVE! (Last week: 9)
Trevor Lewis – So much for the Corsi mastery, Lewis isn’t even top five on the Kings now, much less the NHL. (Last week: 10)
Alec Martinez – I’d be worried about Martinez having “concussion-like symptoms” if I didn’t know that the Kings have the magical healing powers of Gustl at their disposal. (Last week: 12)
Dwight King – With a recent small uptick in ice time, Dwight is this week’s pick to break the “no goals in a month” streak. The sad part is that I had so many Kings to choose from. (Last week: 13)
Jarret Stoll – With one goal, 13 SOGs and 16 PIMs in his last 13 games, Stoll sure is doing a fine job of sabotaging his trade value. (Last week: 11)
Robyn Regehr – I’m not saying that the Kings have blue line depth problems, but Regehr was on the ice for 29 minutes against Tampa. (Last week: 17)
Matt Greene – The forlorn expression on Green’s headshot pretty much says it all. (Last week: 14)
Kyle Clifford – Looks like playing Clifford on the top line the other week might’ve fooled a certain GM into thinking Clifford is worth targeting. It is almost too good to be true, but it Nonis is as Nonis does. (Last week: 16)
Brayden McNabb – Back on the healthy scratch list, but not for long thanks to more blue line injuries. He’s an ice time vulture. (Last week: 15)
Martin Jones – Jones is healthy and ready to play, or so we are told. We’re just going to have to take their word for it. (Last week: 18)
Nick Shore – With the Kings badly in need of scoring punch and an injection of youthful energy, it makes sense that Shore either is a healthy scratch or getting under a dozen shifts per game. (Last week: 19)
Mike Richards – I should probably remove Richards from the rankings now that he is in the AHL which is kind of sad. It’s also morbidly funny, which is why I’m going to leave him right here. (Last week: 20)
Jamie McBain – Gets back in the lineup and just starts shooting up the place and scoring. McBain, he shoot your face. (Last week: 22)
Jordan Nolan – Welp, looks like the Kings aren’t going to be riding Nolan’s offense the entire road trip, after all. (Last week: 21)
Andy Andreoff – Sutter, stop trying to make Andreoff happen. He’s not going to happen. (Last week: 23)

Agree? Disagree? I don’t really care! If you still feel compelled to sound off on the rankings, go ahead and leave a comment. It’s a free world.
