Ugh, it's 1 minute in to Game 7 and Justin Williams hasn't scored yet.
— The Royal Half (@theroyalhalf) May 17, 2014
Ugh, so impatient.
Justin Williams lives for this… pic.twitter.com/MDNzdC9R2Z
— Indiana_Matt (@Indiana_Matt) May 16, 2014
I just want to thank the Flyers for making these goals possible. And Corey Perry for having the opposite of whatever Justin Williams has.
— dewayne (@DewayneHankins) May 17, 2014
Justin Williams just looked so calm this morning, you could tell he just relishes these games
— Pierre LeBrun (@Real_ESPNLeBrun) May 17, 2014
Justin Williams, with a goal and assist, has maintained his completely sustainable two-points-per-game average in Game 7s. This is his 6th.
— Jon Rosen (@lakingsinsider) May 17, 2014
Does anything bother the Kings? Justin Williams: "It will bother us if we don’t win the Cup this year."
— Rich Hammond (@Rich_Hammond) May 17, 2014
Far be it from me to try and interfere with the media’s love affair with Justin Williams, but it is distracting us from what is really important … how great the rest of the Kings are in game sevens.
Richards, Gaborik and Williams all boast perfect 5-0 records in Game 7's….and they ALL scored tonight #GOKINGSGO #Game7Ringers
— LA Kings Ice Crew (@LAKingsIceCrew) May 17, 2014
#Kings goals tonight: Carter, Gaborik, Kopitar, Richards, and Williams. EXACTLY as it should be. Their combined record in game 7s: 20-0.
— Anthony S. Khoury (@askmeabouthelaw) May 17, 2014
Everyone wants to talk about Justin Williams' record in big games but don't forget Tanner Pearson is 1-0 with 1G, 1A in Game 7s.
— The Royal Half (@theroyalhalf) May 16, 2014
A loud "Go Kings Go!" chant at Honda Center. Kings 5, Ducks 1 in the 3rd period.
— Arash Markazi (@ArashMarkazi) May 17, 2014
An "It's Your Last Game" chant breaks out at Honda Center and I'm not sure if they are referring to Selanne or Boudreau.
— The Royal Half (@theroyalhalf) May 17, 2014
#LAKings fans singing "Na na na na hey hey hey goodbye" to Ducks at Honda Center. As they should. Cue Ducks fans complaints about "class."
— Anti Glib (@AntiGlib) May 17, 2014
"THIS IS OUR HOUSE" chant breaks out in the 400s and I've never loved LA Kings fans more in my life.
— PumperNicholl (@PumperNicholl) May 17, 2014
Look, the Ducks didn’t really give the fans a lot to cheer about. We did, however, find the one Ducks fan who seemed to actually have a pulse during game seven.
This isn’t a new thing for NBC’s announcers this postseason:
!Olè¡ RT @wyshynski: One last thing until the 'morn: Take a drink every time someone on TV calls him "Alex" Martinez. Sheesh … #LAKings
— Alex Martinez (@27_alexmartinez) May 4, 2014
But here is the latest:
NBC is beyond pretending like they care about anybody in the Western Conference*
*Does not apply to Chicago
LOL
@PumperNicholl Nothing like a fake retweet to put your maturity on display. Congrats!
— Adam Brady (@AdamJBrady) May 14, 2014
If the Ducks’ Director of Publications and New Media (that sounds like a fake title, right?) gets that bent out of shape over an amusing fake tweet, I wonder how he reacted when some Kings fans got a hold of the programs the Ducks pre-printed for game one of the WCF?
@LetsGoKings Yep, Kings fans like you tore into our boxes of game programs, stole them and tweeted photos. Classy right to the finish!
— Adam Brady (@AdamJBrady) May 18, 2014
Not well, it turns out.
@dallas_alvey123 @ShadowOftheBat @LetsGoKings Not in the least.
— Adam Brady (@AdamJBrady) May 19, 2014
@ShadowOftheBat @dallas_alvey123 @LetsGoKings When were they classy?
— Adam Brady (@AdamJBrady) May 19, 2014
Yeah, when were those jerks ever classy?
Well maybe this guy just gets a little overly emotional. I can’t imagine this is an organization-wide issue. To find out, we should take a look at how the Ducks’ Social Media Producer (again, can that possibly be a real position title?) reacted to one of Pumpernicholl‘s game recaps. You know, the recaps he puts together for every game, showcasing the worst fans (OF EITHER TEAM) and their ridiculous behavior on Twitter.
@theroyalhalf I could copy and paste the exact same responses from Kings fans as well. It happens on both sides, bud.
— AJ Manderichio (@AJManderichio) May 16, 2014
@theroyalhalf You blatantly ignore the vile things your fanbase post about the Ducks. There's always two sides to a story, chief.
— AJ Manderichio (@AJManderichio) May 16, 2014
@CalebRapoport Tears? For simply pointing out that both fanbases have their select Tweeters who send vile stuff? Just the facts.
— AJ Manderichio (@AJManderichio) May 16, 2014
Seriously, it may be time for the Ducks’ Digital Media department to review their policies and procedures.
If the Ducks Social Media Team™ used the official account to respond to people instead of their individual ones, it might be worth a follow.
— The Royal Half (@theroyalhalf) May 16, 2014
Well if they did that, how in the world would they be able to use their platform to draw attention to themselves rather than the team?
Here it is: Excited Playoffs Guy vs. Depressed Post-Playoffs Guy. #BecauseItsTheCup pic.twitter.com/efRJEYZqo4
— Adam Brady (@AdamJBrady) May 17, 2014
*FART NOISE*
The Los Angeles Kings ended Teemu Selanne’s career. Never forget that, and never stop reminding Ducks fans of that fact.
All kinds of nervous for this one. Go ducks. Just get it done.
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
This is what we call dramatic irony.
And kings take the early game momentum.
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
Ducks take the first penalty. We better kill this.
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
Ugh.
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
And now we get to watch the LA prevent defense until we score again.
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
I don't want to say it's over…but a 2-0 lead for LA? Get ready for full trap hockey. If Anaheim doesn't go all out its over.
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
If you are experienced with DFZ, you should know that he has a bit of a fascination with the “trap” and teams like the Kings using it to defend leads against the Ducks.
This is LA's game. We're not even in it.
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
Are you serious…
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
Yeah this is over. It was a fun season guys.
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
Embarrassing.
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
Also embarrassing that Kings fans our louder than us. From the tv it looks like our arena but sounds like their crowd.
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
Teemu deserved better.
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
DFZ cleary has a soft spot for Teemu, but now that the Ducks are out, it sounds like he’ll be pulling for his favorite player’s former team.
Personally hopping on the Montreal bandwagon, but it's going to be tough coping with the end of my favorite player's career.
— DucksFanZone (@DucksFanZone) May 17, 2014
#ThankYouSaku #ForPlayingSoPoorlyThatPeopleForgotHowBadTeemuWasThisYear
Kings: @BuckyHermit
Why are people in the crowd chanting "Slow things are slow"?
— Bucky (@BuckyHermit) May 17, 2014
Can anybody help? No idea with that one.
We get a penalty shit!!!!
— Bucky (@BuckyHermit) May 17, 2014
Bah. Corey Perry's penalty shit doesn't convert.
— Bucky (@BuckyHermit) May 17, 2014
I’m more confused now.
LA Kings are great in elimination games. Ironically, the Ducks tend to be constipated for goals in Game 7s.
— Bucky (@BuckyHermit) May 17, 2014
Noticing a trend.
— Bucky (@BuckyHermit) May 18, 2014
For those who can’t wait until next season’s banner raising.
So are the kings going to put up billboards with photos of native Americans being murdered now? That's how they're organization is right?
— ΚΟRΙΝΔ (@happykarmagirl) May 18, 2014
RT’d by Bucky … RTs do not equal endorsements (hopefully … but they probably do)
Good game. Good game. Good game. Go f*ck yourself. Good game. Good game.
— Bucky (@BuckyHermit) May 17, 2014
That was funnier before you stole it from a t-shirt you saw.
So we have ignored this guy for the duration of the series because he is just that awful. He’s not trying to be funny, he’s not trying to be clever(or at least I hope he isn’t trying to be either of those things), he’s just trying to get attention. Since the series is over though, this seemed like a good time to sum him up in one tweet:
@denning0331 @PumperNicholl @AnthraxJones get shot in the war
— Hamertime (@Hamertimeduck) May 17, 2014
I’m sure Ducks’ New Digital Media Producer(or whatever) finds @Hamertimeduck’s behavior offensive as well.
@Hamertimeduck I always am.
— Adam Brady (@AdamJBrady) May 16, 2014
@Hamertimeduck @PumperNicholl How dare you.
— Adam Brady (@AdamJBrady) May 14, 2014
@Hamertimeduck Isn't that what Twitter is for?
— Adam Brady (@AdamJBrady) March 19, 2014
Or they are super buddy-buddy on Twitter?
No seriously, you should try reading some of their stuff.
Kings: Darryl Sutter, via LA Kings Insider
On Willie Mitchell’s performance in his return:
He was fine.
Welcome back, Willie
Ducks: Teemu Selanne via LA Kings Insider
Selanne, on whether he is rooting for Los Angeles through the rest of the playoffs:
Absolutely. Our team and their team are almost identical, and obviously when they beat us, of course, we hope they’re going to go all the way. That would maybe feel a little better to see that they were going to win it all. They have a chance. They have a great organization and a great team right now. They deserve this. Unbelievable, they came back against Sharks and then again here. You have to give a lot of credit to those guys.
Teemu Selanne, forever a Kings fan.
On Justin Williams’ Game 7 performance:
Yeah, I don’t know how he does it. I don’t know if he eats anything different before the game. I don’t know. [Reporter: Maybe you’ll have what he’s having?] No, I’m just going to keep having what I’m having. That’s all right. You know, he’s a leader on the team, and I guess so and so years ago, Dean got him for a reason, and it’s been definitely paying off.
Big ups to Deano.
Kings:
And John Gibson continues to be Pwned by Trevor Lewis.
Ducks:
This’ll teach ya to make impulsive decisions, Teemu.
