TRH: A Decade of Futility in Review

Since the NHL has mandated an 8 day suspension to the Los Angeles Kings hockey team so that the rest of the Western Conference can play catch-up (that’s right Kings fans, there is a good chance the Kings could be in 7th place by this Saturday!)… I’m going to use this downtime to celebrate the past Decade of the Los Angeles Kings… presenting

The Royal Half: A Decade of Futility in Review!!!!

I feel this photo best sums up the past decade.
Your Los Angeles Kings record from the 1999-2000 till 2008-2009 seasons:
313 Wins. 370 Loses. 58 Ties (remember ties?)
I’m not going to get into semantics here… but the decade doesn’t technically end until 2011 starts. But since the Mainstream Media LOVES a good “Best of Decade” story… I’ll play along with everyone. First off this week… Half Season Ticket Holder Buddy checks in with an exhaustive power rankings of his favorite Kings players from the past decade. Check it out after the jump!
For newer fans of The Royal Half, I want to take the time to re-introduce Half Season Ticket Holder Buddy. When he moved to Los Angeles, HSTHB was a Flyers fan… but those days are long gone. We got our first set of Half Season Seats (22 games) for the 2002-2003 season… right after the Kings had taken the Colorado Avalanche to a fantastic 7 game playoff series. And we’ve renewed every year since. We even put a deposit down for the lockout season… just in case. So if there is anyone who is an expert in the complete futility of the Los Angeles Kings over the past decade, it’s HSTHB. Every game, it’s him and me up there in our section, lambasting everything we see around us. (Although, this season has been filled with more cheering and high fives than the previous 6 season combined. And we really aren’t “high-five” kind of guys.) Plus, he is the VP of Statistics and Technology for The Royal Half… so he’s the perfect guy to lead off our TRH: A Decade of Futility in Review!!!! coverage.
He’s the one on the right.
Without futher ado… the Half Season Ticket Holder Buddy’s Best of 2000’s Los Angeles Kings. From Half Season Ticket Holder Buddy himself… “about this list…I’m making no retractions, corrections, excuses, or explanations.” It’s a good thing he said that… because some of his picks are just plain horrible. At the very least… just read the names and reflect on some of the god-awful shitty players that have skated for this organization in the past 10 years.
