TRH 2ND ROUND PLAYOFF RECAP 5 – SAN JOSE SHARKS: JUICY COUTURE

*THE FOLLOWING BELOW IS NOT WRITTEN BY THE ROYAL HALF,
BUT RATHER PUMPERNICHOLL, OUR MASTER RECAPPER*

KINGS 3, SHARKS 0

What a mess this series had become. Suspensions, injuries, controversial calls and non-calls all added up to 2-2 series with a combined 15 goals between the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks. It wasn't exactly Mark Spector's favorite kind of hockey to watch, but this series had finally escalated the two teams into rivalry level.

The consensus amongst fans from both teams was that Game 5 would most likely decide the winner of the series. Kings fans knew it would be near impossible to win in the Shark Tank down 3-2, and Sharks fans didn't like their team's chances in a potential Game 7 back in Los Angeles.

So it was make or break time for both teams.

And each team's fan base brought their loud for an epic showdown at Staples Center.

PREGAME:
 Sharks fans were ready.

Kings fans were laced up.

Darryl Sutter didn't want to win.

Hash tags still reigned supreme in San Jose.

LA still gave the Kings the best home-ice advantage in the league.

Just another Thursday night in San Jose.

And Kings fans were as optimistic as usual.
Everything was as it should be.

Ugh. Let's just get to the game already.

FIRST PERIOD:
Maybe we started too soon.

Moving on…
Just cause your team won a game 2-2, doesn't mean they advance at 2-2.

Sharks fans were clearly ready for the big game.

OH HELL NO.

Most confusing part of that sentence is this guy is a Kings fan.

SECOND PERIOD:
Slatebag is not a fan of California.
Not a good night for our pal Travis.
Do Sharks fans really believe this?!
Well then.
Dad would be so proud.
Hella hyphy.
True story: Sharks have had 18 powerplays this series to the Kings 14.

Excellent, well-thought out rally call from the San Jose faithful.

You're kind of mixing up your analogies, but OK.

Louis C.K. would definitely appreciate your clarity. (NSFW)

THIRD PERIOD:

This is exactly what I said.

Friendly reminder: Kings will be trolling the Philadelphia Flyers for another decade.

Oh heavens no!! Anything but that!!

Carter Troll Level Achieved.
Good stuff, Sharks fans.

No way. There's more than a minute left in the game!

I think this was a compliment.

I would have picked something else, but I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

The only time anyone should root for Joe Pavelski.
Well that was graphic.
SOMEONE FINALLY WENT TOO FAR!

Let's not say things we can't take back here.

A Ducks fan rooting for the Sharks and praising Scott Gomez? What?

I agree, Sharks fans are much more respectful.

MOST. NORCAL. TWEET. EVER.

I wish all Kings fans were this clever.

TRH THREE STARS OF THE NIGHT

3. Kings and Sharks fans

2. Homer Announcers

NBCSports once again went with the announcing tandem of John Forslund and Joe Micheletti. Fans of both teams were appalled that NBC would send the homer announcers of the other California team to call the game! It was a shocking oversight and I think I speak for everyone when I say I hope it gets corrected quickly by sending an unbiased crew of John Ahlers and Brian Hayward to the Shark Tank for Game 6.

1. Nathan Couture

Game 5 also saw the emergence of the newest member of the Sharks: Nathan Couture.

We here at #TeamTRH decided to find out who this newest player was and how he was added to postseason roster without any of the beat writers finding out prior to the start of the game.

This investigation was a huge mistake…

Game 6 cannot get here fast enough.
