You would think with the recent verbal racial and homophobic attacks that have been occurring in the NHL that the Pun Headline writers at NHL.com would be a little bit more sensitive when it comes to making fun of someone…
The Midwest accent is one of the last things in America you can still make fun of.
Ahh, the NHL pre-season. It’s the time of year that hockey players get accustom to their new teams… when rookies battle for a spot on the opening night roster… when players suffer unnecessary injuries… and then Brendan Shanahan suspends them all. But it’s just not the hockey players and coaches that use the pre-season to get into game shape… it’s also the Pun Headline writers at NHL.com. First, they have to look through the rookie rosters and see what new players they’ll be using throughout the season.
New Kid in Town by The Eagles was written in 1976.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was born in 1993.
I think after years of waiting for a parade, the Maple Leafs would be happy with just a frat party.
And then it’s a time to welcome back old friends who weren’t around last season.
Ge-No problem? More like Knee-No problem!
Of course, everyone is talking about the former NHL scoring champion that has yet to suit up in Pittsburgh this pre-season… mainly because he’s playing in Philadelphia!!!
I can’t believe it took this long for a Moves Like Jagger parody.
Besides the return of two amazing hockey players, the writers at NHL.com also welcomed back two of their most dependable competitors…
The Henrik Zetterberg pun.
The Boston Bruins “BRU” pun.
Hey, did you guys hear that the NHL is opening its season in Europe by any chance?
There must be something wrong with the Rangers travel agent…
because when they got to their hotel they had to check in twice.
BLANTANT PLUG: I’m flying to Europe today to see the Los Angeles Kings take on the the 2 good New York teams in Stockholm and Berlin… so if you don’t already follow me on Twitter… what are you waiting for?!? I don’t know about you guys… but I am SO ready for the 2011-2012 NHL season to start!
And via Puck Daddy… this week’s winner of the “Most Pornographic NHL Pun Headline”…
Yeah, that was changed a few minutes later…
