Two years ago today, one of the most defining moments in Los Angeles Kings history occurred.

I think this photo below is how we all remember the Terry Murray Era in Los Angeles.

Oh wait… no it’s not. Not at all.

That’s more like it.

Don’t kid yourselves, LA Kings fans… this team wouldn’t be the team it is today without the Terry Murray era. And we should never forget.

Miss you, boo.

And I’m really upset that Jersey Brian and I never got a chance to record our break-out song parody that we wrote in early December 2011… “Coach Murray’s Gonna Get Fired” to the tune of Kings of Leon’s “Sex On Fire”…

Over the summer,
upgrades were made
The Kings should be scoring, be scoring

Only can manage,
two goals a game
Twitter is talking, talking

Yeaaaaaaah, Coach Murray’s gonna get fired.

They’ve got the talent,
they should contend
The Kings should be winning, be winning

Hunter and Penner,
leading the way
Offense is dying, it’s dying

Yeaaaaaaah, Coach Murray’s gonna get fired.
Lombaaaaaardi… who are you gonna hire?

Shot mentality, stoic face
It’s just not working, not working

Another season,
stuck in 9th place
They will be rebuilding , rebuilding, rebuilding

Yeaaaaaaah, Coach Murray’s gonna get fired.
Lombaaaaaardi… who are you gonna hire?
Douuuuuughty… will your points get any higher?

Yeaaaaaaah, Coach Murray’s gonna get fired.
Lombaaaaardi… who are you gonna hire?

Go ahead… sing along and see if you can say it isn’t awesome.

But at least one great thing came out of the Terry Murray firing…

Ironsight Design’s first ever photoshop for The Royal Half.

And Indiana Matt’s first ever Darryl Sutter photoshop.

And Indiana Matt’s first ever animated GIF.

So during your lunch today… pour some out for your homie Terry Murray. You wouldn’t be a fan of a Stanley Cup winning team without him. And even though he’s now coaching in the AHL… just know… not one thing has changed.

Man, is there anything worse than AHL beat reporters?
