VOTE FOR ROYAL

Look… I don’t ask for much from you. I’ve been writing this little old LA Kings blog since October of 2008. I’ve given away free t-shirts to you, the fans, when Dustin Penner’s scored a point. And I’ve compared the current LA Kings roster to the cast of Arrested Development… just for you. But late today something came to my attention… and, well… I need your help.

WHAAAAAA??!?!?!?

Indiana Matt was unavailable
so this was the best Pumpernicholl could whip up on short notice.

That’s right, Sports Fans… yours truly has been nominated for the LA Weekly’s Best LA Sports Blog of the Year!!! This is a very prestigious honor and I can only imagine the fierce Sports Blog competition that I’m up against!

Of course, I get the irony of The Royal Half being nominated for Best Sports Blog of the Year during a year in which the sport we cover…. only played half a season. But that’s not the point! We brought you plenty of amazing Los Angeles Kings coverage during 2013… plus music videos during the NHL Lockout to keep you busy.

So I know there are a ton of Modern Hiker and Nobody Hikes in LA fans out there (FYI, I’m hoping the hiking vote gets split like the Democrat vote did with Nader and Gore!)… but please… the polls close today, Friday July 19th. So take a few minutes and Vote for Royal, huh?

Hmmm… close enough.

Go to the LA Weekly Website here and vote for Category #7. I know they ask for your email address but just make up a bunch of fake ones and vote multiple times!!! It’s the American Way!

And don’t even get me started that Grantland, a blog that is funded and operated by ESPN, is nominated for best LA Sports Blog.

Even if you don’t like The Royal Half (which is most people)… you should still vote for me. Because I’m the only hockey blog that is represented by the 10 nominees. It used to be that hockey was a niche sport behind the likes of NASCAR. Now it’s even behind Pilates and Hiking.

The Royal Half has been a Los Angeles Kings fan since 1988 and a Half-Season Ticket Holder since 2002. He has seen the following goaltenders play in person for the Los Angeles Kings… Kelly Hrudey, Grant Fuhr, Byron Dafoe, Jamie Storr, Stephane Fiset, Felix Potvin, Cristobal Huet, Roman Cechmanek, Mathieu Garon, Adam Hauser, Jason LaBarbera, Barry Brust, Sean Burke, Dan Cloutier, Yutaka Fukufuji, Jean-Sebastien Aubin, Erik Ersberg, Jonathan Bernier, Jonathan Quick, Ben Scrivens and Martin Jones. You can follow The Royal Half on Twitter @TheRoyalHalf.
