ARE THE LA KINGS IN THE NEXT ROUND?
NO!

If there is one thing I’ve learned from reading every single Los Angeles Kings-Vancouver Canucks series preview… it’s that LA Kings goaltender Jon Quick needs to play great in order for the team to win this series. And this would be different from every other playoff series anywhere in which apparently the goalie doesn’t need to play great. Let’s be honest… this series doesn’t come down to whether Daniel Sedin is in the lineup… or whether Jeff Carter can score with an injured ankle… or any sort of elite-on-elite goaltender battle. The biggest key to this series is whether or not the Vancouver Canucks can adapt to the only proven system that can beat the Los Angeles Kings in important games.

FORWARDS

With two elite-level goaltenders in the net, the biggest key to winning this series will be scoring goals. And since we took our Feminist Theory 101 refresher course… we here at The Royal Half have promised to not make fun of Daniel and Henrik Sedin for being girlie… but instead for being genetic freaks.

Okay… maybe we are making fun of them for being a little girlie… but just a little bit!

The Sedin Brothers may be an amazing twosome…  but Jeff Carter and Mike Richards have had wild threesomes!

ADVANTAGE: KINGS

The Sedin Brothers are such a force out on the ice, that the NHL actually featured them as part of their latest ad campaign.

But let’s not forget… Mike Richards and Jeff Carter led the Philadelphia Flyers to the Stanley Cup Final in 2010… the same year the Kings and Canucks met in the playoffs. And the NHL took a more unique approach to highlight Carter’s and Richards’ rekindling in Los Angeles.

DEFENSE

The best defenseman for the Vancouver Canucks is a pretty boy who enjoys speaking in his native language with the Canucks’ superstars.

While the best defenseman for the Los Angeles Kings is a rich kid who enjoys speaking in his native language with the Kings’ lotharios.

ADVANTAGE: KINGS

GOALIE

The Vancouver Canucks All-Star goaltender looks like hilarious comedian Sasha Baron Cohen.

While the Los Angeles Kings All-Star goaltender looks like hilarious comedian Adam Scott.

ADVANTAGE: NEITHER

COACH

Alain Vigneault is a passionate Head Coach that loves to get into the minds of his players to make them better.

While Darryl Sutter is a passionate Head Coach that loves to get into the pants of his players.

ADVANTAGE: CANUCKS. AND CHILD SERVICES.

What is the one “don’t miss” aspect to this series? Why it’s my interview with the boys over at Pass It To Bulis from today, of course! I don’t care if you win, Los Angeles Kings… just take it to 7 games. That’s all I ask.
