TRH Recap 24: More O

When Coach Murray shook up his lines in an effort to ask his players for more offense, I think Dustin Brown took the phrase “get your O face on” a little too seriously.

So while NHL Head Coaches were getting fired left and right earlier in the day, Coach Terry Murray sat back at his old man’s desk and carried on with his plan to put Trent Hunter on the 1st line for the Los Angeles Kings as they took on bitter division rival, the San Jose Sharks. At this point… it’s almost like Coach Murray is trying to get fired.

I love that Dustin Brown gets highlighted on the top line…
like he’s the one that doesn’t belong there.

The only thing that Trent Hunter did on the 1st line Monday night was completely ruin Anze Kopitar’s game. Kopitar was working so hard out there and Hunter did nothing but make it difficult for Kopitar to do anything with the puck. And Jarret Stoll did not look comfortable on the wing at all… he was fumbling passes, having a hard time getting it into the zone… and honestly… it’s a crying shame that a line featuring Jarret Stoll and Mike Richards lost any faceoffs in this game. But obviously Coach Murray has a method to his madness since he had an easy solve for this teams’ scoring problems.

The NHL was so amazed that Ethan Moreau scored last night that they immediately issued a souvenir puck.

I’m sure that when Dean Lombardi acquired a former Edmonton Oiler to help with the offense, Ethan Moreau is exactly what he had in mind. Oh, and the other guy who stepped up to help solve the Kings scoring woes? It was the dude who has scored a goal in 8 of the last 10 games.

Is it just me or is Mike Richards looking more and more like Sam Rockwell these days?

“Hey Mike… look at me. Come on… look at me. Aren’t you excited to be back on a line together?”

“Sorry, Gags. But I don’t know how to quit Loktionov.”

To celebrate Coach Murray’s old-school ways of coaching hockey, the LA Kings dragged out the only thing more ancient than Coach Murray’s offensive system…

Alan Thicke’s libido?
Nope… think older. And wrinklier.

It’s former LA Kings Trainer, Pete Demers!

Pete was on to promote the LA Kings Fantasy Camp in March. Where I guess you can have your fantasy of Pete Demers handing you water and a towel come true! Oh and skating with Ian Turnbull… who played nearly 42 games at the end of his career with the Kings! But Pete Demers wasn’t the only Kings alumni at Monday nights game!

It’s Rob Blake and Glen Murray!
Rob Blake was at the game because of his new position with the NHL.
Glen Murray was there because Dean Lombardi wanted to practice firing a Murray.

I really wish the NHL had allowed that 3rd goal by the Kings…
because lord knows that Antti Niemi needs some help with his tan.

Why do I get the feeling that Frazer McLaren looks like a pedophile even when it’s not Movember?

Are you there God… it’s me, Westgarth.
(FYI, this screengrab was taken as Westgarth was watching the Cartman South Park intro for the 2nd period.)

So the Kings completely re-arrange their forward lines and the result is 2 goals. What a big change from the last 2 months! Dustin Penner should be back in the lineup on Thursday against the new-look Florida Panthers, so some big decisions need to be made in the next day. I’ll be sad to see Andrei Loktionov go down to Manchester… but if I wake up Thursday morning and Trent Hunter is still on the 1st Line for the Los Angeles Kings… I don’t know what I’ll be able to do but scream.

This is the thing nightmares are made of.
