Who cares about the 1st meeting of the year between the bitter Pacific Division rivals San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings… when there is video of Mark Messier being wheelchaired backwards!!!

So 50 year-old Mark Messier was totally gassed after an incredibly intense marathon session in New York City. (Apparently it was a different one than those marathon sessions at Madonna’s apartment.) But seriously… who is Messier’s medical team here? Isn’t it incredibly unsafe to wheel a dude backwards on a bumpy road? Since it was New York and it involved Messier, they are probably the same medical team who looked after Mike Modano a few years ago.

Hey, remember when the San Jose Sharks were off to an awful start? And remember when the Kings were the talk of the NHL? Yeah… me neither. Now, the Sharks have pulled even with the Kings in the Pacific… and both are trailing the Phoenix Coyotes and Dallas Stars. But at least they are both ahead of the Ducks, right? The Sharks played last night and lost in overtime to the Nashville Predators after having a 3rd period lead. And the Kings have lost 4 straight and haven’t scored more than 2 goals in any of them. So, guess what? Coach Murray is changing the lines around again! Oh and remember that dude the Kings traded for at the last trade deadline? The one who averaged 25 goals or so a season before he joined the Kings? Well, Coach Murray thinks that maybe he should be playing in the Top 6.

MURRAY: “But the look that I wanted to see here was something that I put down on paper, going back through the summer time, and that’s Penner up as one of your top-six forwards. That’s where he has always had success, and that’s where I think the success is to be had with us. We haven’t seen the goals. We have not seen a lot of scoring chances. That’s probably the primary look that I’ve gone back through in the last few games. So we’ll see how that shakes out tomorrow. That’s my reasoning.’’

So the dude that your GM traded a former 1st round pick, an 1st overall and a 3rd pick for belongs in the Top 6? Well, that’s the kind of thinking that will keep Coach Murray the man in charge of this team for a long while. Because after all… teams that had high expectations coming out of training camp only to struggle offensively during the first month of the season with a .500 record… are making changes

I feel bad for Davis Payne, but god damn, I’m glad to see that wattle back in the NHL.

Fine… sure… I guess we’ll try another Penner Point. Just pick the time and period you think Dustin Penner will score his 1st point of the night against the San Jose Sharks and the person closest will win a free t-shirt from The Royal Half Gift Shoppe. It’s a really, really, really simple game… so I have no idea why we’ve only given out 1 t-shirt this season. Oh… wait. I know why.
