PUNDAYS: You’re A Peeing

Well, I must have had my time zone calculations off because I thought that even though I’m still in Europe, the newest edition of Pundays would be coming to you Monday morning in the States. But better late than never, I suppose. Besides, even though I’m in Europe… the Pun Headlines of NHL.com are never lost in translation.

Oh no you didn’t!!!

Oh man, oh man! Too funny!

I don’t care what language you speak… Dennis Seidenberg is hysterical.

Click here to check out the best and worst NHL.com pun headlines from the first week of the season!!!

Real NHL action kicked off this week and of course it’s the job of the Pun Headline writers at NHL.com to let you know the season has started.

And just when you think the NHL.com Pun Headline writers have broken some new ground for the new season… they… well…

But not to worry, fans of the NHL.com Pun Headline. For it is a new season and with a fresh year comes brand new hockey players to make Pun Headlines out of!

If only Chris Simon was still an Islander, you could call me Al.

They’ve been holding on to this headline since Luke Richardson retired…
or at least until Luke Schenn actually does something to prove he’s worth 3.6 million a year.

I give it a week before they start using Ted Nugent songs.

And presenting our newest feature at Pundays….

The James Reimer Pun o’ the Week.

Of course the play of Semyon Varlamov was the biggest surprise this past week, bar none.

Obviously, this was written by a rookie Pun Headline writer…
you’ve got the main headline “Var None.” You’ve got the 1st bottom headline
of “Semyon Down Now.” And next to it.. Varly Davidson.
Act like you’ve been there before and save it for the rest of the season.

Now, that’s some veteran pun headline writing.

Shouldn’t this headline be about Drew Doughty?

Well… at least Heatley’s trying to hit something new.

After spending nearly 10 days in Europe, all I hear about from fellow hockey fans over here is how nervous they are that NHL games may not be broadcast on TV. Well, the NHL Pun Headline Writers have one idea for what they could watch instead.

I’d watch Anthony Bourdain play hockey any day of the week.

And since it took nearly 15 years for the Jets to return to Winnipeg… it seems fitting that NHL.com used a screengrab from 1996 in their first Pun Headline.

Thankfully, they later fixed it. But the fans in Winnipeg still applauded the bad screengrab.

And This Week’s Winner of the “Best Punday without a Spleen.
