You want to know what is wrong with America? People are just sitting back and not saying anything when some foreign country comes in and starts taking over one of our most precious commodities… overtime hockey!
That’s right, fellow Americans. Los Angeles Kings Overtime is now sponsored by Air Canada.
You can’t see it in the first photo, but there are tiny red Air Canada Maple Leafs in the background when the HD Scoreboard puts up the “Overtime” graphic. And since this was the first time all season the Kings had gone into overtime at home… the Kings ad sales exec who closed the deal with Air Canada was starting to get a little nervous. So how can we keep our neighbors from the north from taking over the US, one overtime at a time? Sounds like a job for a superhero.
Why, yes. I do believe I can fly.
Kings 3, Red Wings 2
With his 2nd goal of the season, rookie Alec Martinez is now your Los Angeles Kings leading goalscorer on defense. But his impact on the game is greater than just showing how much Drew Doughty has struggled this year… no, his impact is getting more Latino fans into the game.
Man, I remember when Ramirez scored that cup-winning goal. What a game.
So the old dude is in the Yzerman jersey and the young whippersnapper is in the Howe jersey.
Who says that kids today have no respect?
Sure, Detroit might have owned most of the last 7 years versus the Kings, but the tide may finally be turning.
For those of you keeping score at home Detroit has won 22 of the last 27 games against the Kings.
But I only remember the last 3 games.
And I may love my favorite hockey team… but I draw the line at having a Kings license plate frame.
Oh, the plate is from Nevada. That makes total sense.
I tried to get “Willsie” but RudyKelly already had it.
There was a definite excitement inside the Staples Center tonight. I don’t think it had anything to do with the game, but rather what is happening next Friday.
Because nothing screams Kings Hockey like blind opera singers!!!
So with a victory, the Kings leap into 4th place in the Western Conference. When they lose their next game, they’ll drop down to 487th. That’s how tight the Western Conference is this season. Thank god the NHL is enforcing another mandatory 4 day break before the Kings next game, Thursday at home versus Calgary. Hopefully by then it will be “US Airways presents the Overtime Period.” And need I remind anyone… the Los Angeles Kings are undefeated in the Marco Sturm era.
“Great job, guys! You’re doing awesome. I’ll be there shortly to add some offense.
Just as soon as I can get up. A little help, please?!?”
